We go on Placemaking Trips throughout the year to make regional and thematic connections. Placemakers are encouraged to invite us to their communities so we can cluster our outreach and engagement efforts. At the same time, placemakers have joined us for parts of trips and we encourage you to reach out if that interests you.
In March 2024, We're embarking on a 'March Across Australia' this Spring to unite energies to reimagine and revitalize spaces, and foster collaboration and innovation across continents in a month-long learning and sharing of vibrant community building strategies and successes.
PlacemakingUS, in collaboration with Placemaking Mexico, is dedicated to sharing our explorations and insights into the border region.
All Aboard! PlacemakingUS and PlacemakingX accomplished our "Placemaking Train" placemaking train trip in Spring 2023. Using Amtrak, we rode the rails looping from New York City down through Atlanta and Birmingham to New Orleans and up through Chicago to circle back to the Big Apple.
We co-produced the 2023 CityBuilding Express (CBX) which took 25+ urbanists around DC Metro, Virginia and North Carolina on an intensive tour of innovative neighborhoods/developments that highlight CityBuilding best practices and how to implement them— with the assistance from local experts and leading practitioners.
The Roadtrip for the Recovery connected us with placemakers in over 70 cities around the US. We took tours and learned the strategies diverse placemakers employ across the country and solidified our roster of superlative leaders across the country. We alerted place advocates to federal recovery funds including ARPA and CARES monies and helped connect local projects with millions of rebuilding and recovery dollars.
