Guided by our placemaking values, we work nationally in the following program areas:
United Streets of AmericaAs a result of COVID, American cities are reallocating their streets. The changed plans may be temporary for now, but any changes made during COVID could have long-term impact for our communities' pandemic-aware built-environment. Recognizing this opportunity to re-envision how streets work, we're gathering placemakers to help spread innovative policies and work with community-based groups and independent small businesses in-need to facilitate site-specific help planning their outdoor space. PlacemakingUS Exchange ProgramThrough our PlacemakingUS Exchange program, we facilitate visits from two to five experienced placemakers whose "fresh set of eyes" provide valuable insights, knowledge, and guidance on placemaking projects.
Our team will work closely with your community partners to share success stories and discuss opportunities and options moving forward. We will reiterate back what we're hearing and provide connections to models and resources to help you implement local placemaking strategies effectively. By sharing knowledge, resources, and ideas together, we co-empower communities to develop innovative and impactful placemaking projects that address critical 21st-century challenges like climate change, economic inequality, and public health. PlacemakingUS Weekend ProgramThe PlacemakingUS Weekend program is an experiential learning opportunity for placemakers to explore different placemaking themes in the field.
The program includes hands-on workshops, tours, and meetups, as well as active learning discussions and excursions to bond the group and learn from great places around the area while visitors provide a fresh eye perspective and diverse expertise. Through the PlacemakingUS Weekend program, participants gain experience working together on real-life placemaking projects. The program aims to provide a fun and informative adventure for placemakers to develop practical skills, broaden their perspectives, and create vibrant and sustainable public spaces that benefit everyone in the community.
